A Letter From Our Founder

Posted December 15, 2016

Dear Resurrecting Robin Supporters,

Another year has come and gone, and Resurrecting Robin is celebrating the 10th year of our existence, thanks to our dedicated volunteers.  Our mission would be impossible to execute without your support.  We truly appreciate you fighting with us to raise awareness and take a stand against domestic violence.

In 2016, we accomplished several impactful tasks.  Below are the highlights from each quarter this year:

  • 1st Quarter:  We hosted a successful Emergency Drive for a local Middle TN shelter in need of the basics to keep their doors open: laundry detergent, cleaners, paper products, etc.  Volunteers like you responded quickly, and thanks to your love and support, we filled a truck and stocked them for months to come!  This allowed them to continue to care for women, men and children in their shelter, and we were reminded yet again just how many daily commodities we take for granted.

  • 2nd Quarter:  We hosted a beautiful Totes of Hope drive for another shelter local to Middle TN.  Yet again, your incredible support allowed us to fill dozens of reusable tote bags with daily essentials for survivors getting back on their feet outside of the shelter.  These items included toiletries, baby supplies, cleaning supplies, and paper goods.

  • 3rd Quarter:  Resurrecting Robin rebranded completely! Thanks to our incredible Director of Marketing & Public Relations, Lindsey Arms, we were able to change our logo, rebuild our website, launch a new and highly effective social media platform on Instagram, and create a new volunteer database through our online application.  After 10 years, we believe this new brand will bring a great sense of hope and excitement to our mission.  Again, thank you, Lindsey, for the endless hours you selflessly put forth to create and maintain this brand for us!

  • 4th Quarter:  Resurrecting Robin celebrated 10 YEARS with another wonderful and successful Christmas Sponsorship Program.  This year, we partnered with the YWCA yet again to make sure all of their shelter residents were blessed with gifts of love and necessity this Christmas season.  Thanks to all of our wonderful volunteers who participated, we were able to sponsor 12 Robins this year, including 3 moms and several children.  We know the hope these gifts provide to the recipients, and we know that these gifts show a different level of love these Robins have nearly forgotten.

  • Special Note:  In the past 10 years of our Christmas Sponsorship Program, we have sponsored a total of 138 Robins! Thank YOU for your dedication to this annual program and giving us another year of success.

With 2017 and our 10th year ahead of us, Resurrecting Robin is excited for what is to come.  We have plans to continue branding Resurrecting Robin in the Middle TN area as a primary support system to the local domestic violence shelters.  While many improvements have been made in our community over the last decade, domestic violence still affects 1 in 3 women and 1 in 4 men.  Our work is far from over, but we will not lose this war.  We ask that you continue to support us in prayer and volunteer services as we uncover what this New Year holds for us.  We will continue raising awareness and showing survivors true love, and we believe you will be standing with us for another great decade.

Thank you again for all of your love, prayers and support over the last 10 years.  You hold a special place in our heart and the hearts of the hundreds of survivors your dedication to this mission has touched.

Stay safe and stay strong,

Alli

October Is Domestic Violence Awareness Month

Posted October 1, 2016

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. The National Coalition Against Domestic Violence, an incredible resource, has put out a quick guide to help our nation better understand what domestic violence is. Their logic is genius: how can you stop something you don't understand?

Please take 3-5 minutes and read this quick guide to better understand domestic violence.

Tennessee # 6 In The Nation

Posted June 27, 2016

Tennessee ranks #6 in the nation for domestic violence. With police receiving over 26,000 calls regarding domestic violence last year, some new efforts to fight back are going into place! Tennessee is rolling out a new initiative on November 1, 2016 (tentatively) to help police responding to Domestic Violence calls connect victims with resources immediately. This comes with a goal to reduce future violence and raise awareness to both police and victims with what resources are available.

Another Successful Emergency Supply Drive

Posted April 5, 2016

In March, Resurrecting Robin facilitated an emergency drive for a local shelter in need of household supplies.  This shelter was low and/or empty of the basic essentials we take for granted: toilet paper, paper towels, household cleaners, laundry soap, etc.  With just a week’s notice, Resurrecting Robin was able deliver a truck full of supplies to the shelter just as their supply stock ran out.

A special thank you to all of our wonderful Middle Tennessee volunteers who quickly answered our call to action and supplied the essentials to keep this shelter running!
